Project Overview

Clarke Restoration were appointed to carry out the restoration works at this unique monument based on the City Walls of Derry. This monument was erected to perpetuate the memory of the Rev George Walker in 1826-1829.

Description of works

Our works to this monument included extensive sandstone repair, lime repointing and graffiti removal.

Works completed included;

  • Sandstone repair and replacement to the plinth
  • Extensive lime repointing works
  • Removal of graffiti paint from the monument using DOFF and TORC cleaning systems, ensuring the sandstone structure was not damaged
